Master violin maker Guan Kaiming, was born to a Catholic family in Beijing. His Father, a scholar of western classical philosophy was also a passionate connoisseur of western classical music.

In addition to growing up in such an environment of religion and music, Mr. Guan also had at a very young age a natural ability to play the violin. Early in life his interests included woodcarving. In time these natural talents give life to a seemingly limitless imagination, as can be seen in his wonderful instruments.

The elegant company logo was designed by Mr. Guan in the 1970's, as after 10 years as a professional violin player, he began a successful violin making career.

Mr. Guan began with a set of skillful hands, a pair of keen eyes, perfect ears, and the passion of an artist. During his nearly thirty years of in depth study in classical violin making, he has developed and refined his own techniques. His talent has won him multiple awards in international violin making competitions. In addition, numerous news corporations including: Guangming Daily, the overseas edition China Daily and China Radio International have already praised his abilities and success in dozens of languages.

 

Over the years various encounters with master violin makers of France, Germany, England and Italy have helped improve his capabilities and skills. Mr. Guan is currently CEO and President of Beijing Kaiming Violin Making Corporation Ltd. His corporation not only produces fine violins in a controlled environment, but also scrutinizes antique violin making techniques to develop new procedures and products. Mr. Guan's philosophy is to continue to discover and pursue his quest for the perfect violin.

Liu Chi, Jiang Yushun and Guan Kaiming first met each other as professional violin players in the 1960s. From their common love for music stemmed Beijing Guan Kaiming Violin Making. The company is financially robust and has a strong international customer base.
